Production Foreman

Location: Dartmouth, NOVA SCOTIA Position: Production Foreman Status:   Full time Are you a Red Seal Welder or similarly experienced? Can you get the job done on-budget and on-time, or even faster? Our client is a full service steel fabrication and & repair company which serves both the marine and industrial sectors. Our client also provides mechanical, hydraulic & machining services to their customers. They are currently seeking a Production Foreman to join their dynamic team in Woodside Industrial Park in Dartmouth, NS. This is a full-time, hourly position with benefits. This position reports to the Production Manager.

The Production Foreman will oversee a team of tradespeople who possess varying degrees of trades’ experience. The Production Foreman will effectively plan, coordinate, direct and supervise manpower, subcontractors and equipment to ensure work is completed on-time, within budget and according to the quality work that clients have come to expect! They must accurately track work in progress and ensure that all material and labour hours are correctly allocated to the job. They must also maintain effective working relationships with internal staff and tradespeople as well as with clients. The Production Foreman must ensure that all company, client and safety policies are adhered to.

The challenge of this position is ensuring multiple jobs are completed on-time and on-budget, according to quality standards and meeting all client and company expectations. Perhaps equally challenging is the requirement that the Production Foreman review work of tradesmen, conduct formal performance appraisals and offer constructive criticism in the face of sometimes strong personalities.

The successful candidate will: Have an extensive background in steel fabrication and repair, with emphases on marine repairs Have outstanding coaching and supervisory skills. Have a strong familiarity with machining and mechanical trades Be proficient in MS Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel. Experience in MS Project and Basic Cad would be an asset. This position must be available Monday thru Friday from 7:30am – 4:00pm. Overtime and shift work are regularly required and are a condition of employment. Regular travel within HRM is required. There will also be occasional travel within the province. The successful candidate must have a valid NS Drivers’ License and be insurable.
