When does a company need safety programming?

Safety is more than compliance…safety is about people, families and community.  The NS Occupational Health and Safety Act, Internal Responsibility System, says that all (employers, employees, contractors, owners, etc) within the workplace share the responsibility of safety.  Legally, an employer requires a safety policy when they have 5 or more regularly employed employees.  Similarly, if there are 20 or more regularly employed employees, the employer is required to have more detailed safety programs.
